It’s an almost universal experience: People get in the car and turn on their favorite music. But the first car radio wasn’t sold until Chevrolet offered one as an option in 1922. And at first, radios in cars weren’t a popular feature. In 1930, laws were proposed in Massachusetts and Missouri that would ban automobile radios, and a poll in 1934 found that 56% of people thought car radios were a dangerous distraction.

Several members of the Aroostook Amateur Radio Association (AARA) are current members of the International Repeater Group (IRG) in New Brunswick Province.

Each month, more and more of our new recruits are signing up for CoCoRaHS assuming they will be using their often new electronic automated rain gauges. I’m sure more will be receiving these as gifts for Christmas. They are often saddened and perhaps confused by the fact that the electronic gauges don’t “cut the mustard”.

"Fine business" is the best way to say it, after some help from the Fredericton Amateur Radio Club and IRG members put Jim Noseworthy VE1HJN back on the air. Some deck renovations required the antenna to be moved and so helping hands worked today (June 23) to put Jim back on the air. Good work everyone!
