December 2021 review and January (winter) outlook

December had above normal temperatures (+1.9ºC) and below normal precipitation (81%) in comparison with the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010) for the province.

Climate event of the month: Climatologically speaking, December 2021 was rather uneventful.  A somewhat, notable event occurred in Moncton when the temperature shifted from -17.1ºC (coldest night of the month) on the 10th to +14.7ºC on the 11th. This marks a change in temperature of 31.8ºC over the two days.
