July 2021 review and August (summer/fall) outlook NB

July’s temperature was below normal (-1.1ºC) while precipitation was above normal (132%) in comparison with the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010) for the province.

Climate event of the month: There were only 3 reports of temperatures reaching 30ºC or more during the climatologically warmest month of the year; Bathurst reported 30.4ºC on the 6th, Charlo reported 30.1ºC on the 15th  and St. Stephen reported 30.1ºC on the 16th. The last time Miramichi did not have 30ºC in the month of July was in 1996.  In addition, many sites across the province were warmer in June 2021 than they were in July.
