Take part in Exercise Synergy Challenge 2024

New Brunswick Power and NB-EMO will stage a full-scale nuclear emergency exercise on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 29 and 30, 2024.  Over 30 agencies will be taking part, involving about a thousand participants.  The exercise will simulate response to an event at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station.

As a participant, the IRG will be exercising its role in the EMO plan as a means to provide back-up communications.  We will be verifying response and activation ability during the event, both real and simulated.   You may hear simulated radio activity (no pun intended!) during October 29 and 30.

You can also take part in Exercise Synergy Challenge 2024:

  • At home:  You can listen to simulated nets, and follow instructions if asked to provide information as the event unfolds.  Nets will be unscheduled and could be any time during the two days.  There will also be simulated news media sites and social media that you can follow, see the "Players' Guide" link below.  Exercise transmissions will be preceded with the phrase, "Exercise, Exercise, Exercise."
  • At an emergency operation centre:   We still are looking for a few volunteers who would be willing to spend some time helping out at one of the various emergency operation centres that will be activated during the exercises in the Saint John, St. George and Fredericton areas.  If you can offer some help at an EOC for a short period or the whole event, or have any questions, let us know at this link with contact information and availability.

A Players Guide has been developed to outline more of the exercise and how to access the simulated social media pages so you can follow along.  Download the Ex SC 2024 Player Guide here (PDF format)

More information will be posted on the IRG web site leading up to and during the event.  We invite you to take part in some way to be more prepared to help out your community in time of need.
