NB River Watch underway

(GNB News - March 11, 2026)  During the coming weeks, teams from the Department of Environment and Local Government and the Department of Justice and Public Safety will closely monitor river ice and snowmelt near waterways, particularly in the Saint John River basin. Agencies from federal, provincial and United States governments will assist in this effort, as will partners such as NB Power and local watershed groups.

FREDERICTON (GNB) – 12 March 2024  -- The annual River Watch program was launched today to provide New Brunswickers with information on the status of rivers, potential ice jams and other flood issues across the province during the coming weeks.

Water levels expected to reach flood stage in northwestern area by early next week

FREDERICTON (GNB) – 14 April 2023  -- Water levels in rivers are increasing throughout the province from continuous snow melt, and Saint-Hilaire is forecast to reach flood stage by Tuesday, April 18.

Residents living or working in areas prone to localized flooding are reminded to be aware and take the proper precautions to safeguard their homes and possessions.
